TVS Motors: Launches ethanol based version of Apache RTR

Leading two and three-wheelers manufacturer TVS Motors has launched the country's first ethanol-fueled motorcycle, TVS Apache RTR 200 Fi E100. Ethanol is a non-toxic, biodegradable fuel that reduces harmful emissions.

The bike, TVS Apache RTR 200 Fi E100 sports green graphics and is equipped with Twin-Spray-Twin-Port EFI technology. It has an ascending top speed of 129 kmph and provides a peak power of 21 PS @ 8500 rpm and a torque of 18.1 Nm @ 7000 rpm. This special edition model is priced at Rs. 1,20,000 and would be available in Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and Karnataka.

The bike can be run only on Ethanol and if one wishes to blend in regular petrol, they would have to use 80:20 ratio, i.e. 80 per cent ethanol and 20 per cent petrol. Ethanol has a lower fuel efficiency than petrol but costs lesser than petrol, which will lead to more savings. The company already sells Apache models running on ethanol in Brazil. The bike's fuel injection system is modified to support ethanol has a fuel.

Earlier, the company launched its 100cc economy motorcycle TVS Sport in Sri Lanka on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, on Friday, the stock of TVS Motor Company was trading at Rs. 432.00 per share, up by 0.30 per cent on BSE.
