TVS Motor gains after 27 per cent increase in month-on-month sales
TVS Motor, a two-wheeler major, announced its monthly sales for the month of July, this weekend.
The company witnessed a sequential growth of 27 per cent sales in the month of July with sales of 2,52,744 units as against 1,98,387 units reported in June 2020. However, the company’s YoY sales declined by approximately 10 per cent to sales of 2,52,744 units in the month of July 2020 from 2,79,465 units registered in the month of July 2019.
For the two-wheeler segment, the company accounted a drop in sales by 8.24 per cent YoY from sales of 2,43,788 units in July 2020 to 2,65,679 units for the same month, last year.
The domestic two-wheeler registered sales of 1,89,647 units, which declined by 9 per cent YoY, of which, motorcycle segment sales saw a drop of 1.98 per cent YoY and scooter segment saw a drop of 25 per cent YoY. The total domestic sales reported by the company in July 2019 were 2,08,489 units.
The company's total exports segment recorded a fall in sales by approximately 11 per cent YoY to 62,389 units in the month of July 2020 as against 69,994 units in July 2019. The two-wheeler exports dropped by 5 per cent YoY, registering sales of 54,141 units in July 2020.
Three-wheeler of the company registered sales of 8,956 units in July 2020, which declined by 35 per cent, as against 13,786 units in July 2019.
Two-wheeler manufactures have seen a severe decline in the past few months, owing to the pandemic, followed by the lockdown. However, the easing of the lockdown is giving an upward momentum to auto sales.
The share of TVS Motor was trading at Rs 394.05 with gains of 1.57 per cent, at around 1.07 pm on BSE.
