At the pre-opening bell, the frontline index S&P BSE Sensex opened in red with a loss of 252.13 points or 0.31 per cent. By 9.17 am, the index stood at 82,563.36 signifying a gain of 66.26 points or 0.08 per cent over its previous closing.
On the sectoral front, in the pre-opening session, metals dropped by 0.14 per cent, power plunged by 0.49 and auto soared by 0.07 per cent.
