At the pre-opening bell, the frontline index S&P BSE Sensex opened in red with a loss of 39.06 points or 0.05 per cent. By 9.17 am, the index stood at 84,623.84 signifying a loss of 324.06 points or 0.38 per cent over its previous closing.

On the sectoral front, in the pre-opening session, metals Jumped by 0.21 per cent, power zoomed by 0.32 and auto soared by 0.38 per cent.
Meanwhile, Reliance Power Ltd, Vakrangee Limited and Gtl Infrastructure Ltd emerged as the Top Gainers of BSE in the pre-opening session today.
Reliance Power Ltd, an S&P BSE company, surged 4.99 per cent to trade at 51.10 apiece. The Board of Directors of the Company will be held on Thursday, October 03, 2024, inter alia, to consider and approve raising of long-term resources from domestic and/or global markets, by issue of equity shares/ equity linked securities/ warrants convertible into equity shares, by way of preferential issue and/or qualified institutional placement and/or rights issue and/or foreign currency convertible bonds or any other method including determination of issue price
Vakrangee Limited rallied 4.37 per cent to trade at Rs 37.29 apiece. The company has not made any significant announcements of late. Hence, the rally in the share price could be driven purely by the market forces.
