At the pre-opening bell, the frontline index S&P BSE Sensex opened in green with a gain of 167.20 points or 0.21 per cent. By 9.17 am, the index stood at 78,558.19 signifying a gain of 18.02 points or 0.02 per cent over its previous closing.

On the sectoral front, in the pre-opening session, metals dropped by 0.09 per cent, power zoomed by 0.16 and auto soared by 0.4 per cent.
