At the pre-opening bell, the frontline index S&P BSE Sensex opened in red with a loss of 1,049.06 points or 1.49 per cent. By 9.15 am, the index stood at 69,917.68 signifying a loss of 588.63 points or 0.83 per cent over its previous closing.
On the sectoral front, in the pre-opening session, metals fell by 0.79 per cent, power declined by 1.74 and auto fell by 0.99 per cent.
Meanwhile, Suprajit Engineering Ltd, PTC Industries Ltd and NIIT Ltd emerged as the Top Gainers of BSE in the pre-opening session today.
Suprajit Engineering Ltd, an S&P BSE company, surged 3.42per cent to trade at Rs 374.85 apiece. The company has not made any significant announcements of late. Hence, the rally in the share price could be driven purely by the market forces.
PTC Industries Ltd rallied 3.03 per cent to trade at Rs 5990.00 apiece. The company has not made any significant announcements of late. Hence, the rally in the share price could be driven purely by the market forces.
NIIT Ltd, an S&P BSE company, climbed 2.99 per cent to trade at Rs 115.50 apiece. The company has not made any significant announcements of late. Hence, the rally in the share price could be driven purely by the market forces.
