At the pre-opening bell, the frontline index S&P BSE Sensex opened in green with a slight gain of 16.41 points or 0.03 per cent. By 9.15 am, the index further strengthened stood at 65,667.07 signifying a gain of 273.17 points or 0.42 per cent over its previous closing.
On the sectoral front, in the pre-opening session, metals rose by 0.73 per cent, power gained 0.10 and auto rose by 0.34 per cent.
Meanwhile, Primo Chemicals Ltd, SKF India Ltd and Zen Technologies Ltd emerged as the Top Gainers of BSE in the pre-opening session today.
Primo Chemicals Ltd, an S&P BSE company, surged 7.08 per cent to trade at Rs 68.50 apiece. The company has not made any significant announcements of late. Hence, the rally in the share price could be driven purely by the market forces.
