Investing through a systematic investment plan (SIP) route often sheds the idea of market timing. Rather, when the markets are moving higher, you are buying fewer units at higher prices and when it’s running southwards, you are buying more units at low prices. This phenomenon is known as ‘rupee cost averaging’, which helps you in managing the market risk brilliantly. Therefore, for an average Indian investor, this is the best way of investing in mutual funds in order to accumulate substantial wealth in the long-term. Here is a list of top 10 equity mutual funds that you can consider for your SIP investment.

The actual purpose of the SIP is not to earn higher returns, but to give you the best facility in order to invest, in case, you don’t have a lump sum amount to invest. Therefore, investors should choose this option only if they don’t have a lump sum amount to invest. Further, the benefit of SIP can be seen in the long-term (after seven years). So, don’t invest via SIP in the short-term unless you have no lump sum to invest.
