At the time of the pre-opening bell today, the frontline index S&P BSE Sensex opened in green at a gain of 0.87 per cent. By 9.15 am, the index maintained these gains and stood at the level of 56,306.93.
Of the sectoral indices, with a surge of 1.23 per cent, utilities gained the most, followed by telecom, which climbed 1.07 per cent.
Amid this, Mangalam Cement, MTAR Technologies & VA Tech Wabag from the small-cap space emerged as the Top Gainers on BSE in the pre-opening session today.
Mangalam Cement Ltd, an S&P BSE Smallcap stock, emerged as the top gainer after surging 5.08 per cent in the pre-opening session. At 9.07 am, the shares of the company were trading at Rs 334 as against the previous closing price of Rs 317.85 on BSE.
MTAR Technologies Ltd, a machine industry company from the small-cap space, rallied 4.79 per cent to trade at Rs 1,524 apiece. This surge comes after the company announced the signing of a share purchase agreement with sellers and GEE PEE Aerospace & Defence Private Limited for the acquisition of a 100 per cent stake in the latter.
VA Tech Wabag Ltd, a water treatment company, surged 4.63 per cent in the pre-opening session to trade at Rs 262 apiece. A few minutes after the pre-opening bell, the company announced the expansion of its global footprint with a new JICA-funded, consortium order for a 50 MLD desalination project in Senegal (West Africa) worth about 146 million Euros.
