Telecom giant bounces back gaining 17.61 lakh subscribers in October
Reliance’s telecom arm, Jio saw a turnaround in terms of subscriber additions as compared to last month when it lost 190 lakh subscribers.
Reliance Jio gained the largest share of the pie for the access service provider-wise market share for the month of October 2021, according to a press release by TRAI.
As of October 31, 2021, Reliance enjoyed a market share of 36.58 per cent, followed by Bharti Airtel, having 30.35 per cent and Vodafone Idea with 23.07 per cent.
The month saw a shift in the subscriber base wherein Reliance Jio added 17.61 lakh subscribers putting its gross subscriber base to 42.66 crore, whereas Bharti Airtel saw a contraction of 4.89 lakh in the subscriber base. VI too lost 0.96 million gross customers to close the month at 269.02 million.

Based on the data released by TRAI, Reliance Jio was the only wireless service provider that saw monthly growth of 0.41 per cent in wireless subscribers for October 2021.
As far as broadband (wired+wireless) services as of October 31, 2021, Reliance Jio enjoyed a lion’s share of 53.92 per cent with Bharati Airtel a distant second at 26.12 per cent.
