Tata Power, AES, Mitsubishi launch energy storage grid
Tata Power in collaboration with AES and Mitsubishi has inaugurated the country first battery-based grid scale energy storage system. This technology provides better peak load management and renewable energy integration with the existing grids.
The energy storage system in installed at Tata Power's Distribution substation in Rohini, Delhi. The 10 MW battery-based grid connected energy storage system with peak load management will provide reliable power to 2 million Tata Power customers. The system is owned by AES and Mitsubishi Corporation, who are significant players in the global energy industry. This system will encourage adoption of energy storage technology in the domestic market and develop the ancillary market services segment in India.
Tata Power is focusing on providing sustainable and clean energy and transforming itself into an integrated solutions provider. This project is inline with the company's strategy to develop electric vehicle (EV) charging, storage, microgrids and home automation infrastructure in India.
Meanwhile, on Thursday at 10:43 hours, the stock of Tata Power was quoting Rs. 65.85 per share, up by 1.07 per cent on BSE.
