Indices traded under pressure throughout the day and a sell-off towards the end dragged Nifty below 17,700 level. The benchmark index slipped 0.42 per cent while Sensex plunged 287 points.

The broader markets closed positively on Tuesday amid positive investors’ sentiment. Nifty surged 1.03 per cent to close just below 17,500 level while Sensex rose 550 points.

Indices saw a magnificent short-covering rally on Friday despite a slight sell-off witnessed in the last hour. Nifty climbed 1.01 per cent to close at 17,200 while Sensex soared 685 points.
