The Asia Pacific markets were higher as the stocks rose ahead of major economic data release this week. China is all set to announce its official manufacturing PMI index for May on Tuesday, May 31.
The city of Shanghai and Beijing have started reopening as the number of cases dropped in China on Sunday. Most of the shops and factories are bound to open by later this week.
The US markets also closed on the higher side during Friday’s session, a relief from the sell-off phase that was happening for the last few weeks. The US markets are closed on Monday due to Memorial Day weekend.
Sensex was at 55,905, up by 1,020.34 points or 1.86 per cent while Nifty was at 16,655.60, up by 309.85 points or 1.89 per cent from the last trading session.
On BSE, 2,324 shares have advanced, 992, shares declined whereas 167 shares are unchanged.
The Top Gainers in Nifty 50 pack are Mahindra & Mahindra, Infosys, HCL Technologies, Titan Company, and Tech Mahindra. Meanwhile, the Top Losers pulling down the index are JSW Steel, ONGC, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Sun Pharmaceuticals Industries, and Dr Reddy’s Laboratories.
BSE Smallcap index is trading at 26,180.82 up by 2.18 per cent. The top gainers in the pack were Unichem Laboratories, PG Electroplast, Technocraft Industries India, Ashoka Buildcon, and Timken India. Each of these stocks has gained more than 5 per cent. Similarly, the top losers include JSW Ispat Special Products, Mangalam Organics, Venus Remedies, Xelpmoc Design and Tech, and Hikal Limited.
On the sectoral front, all the sectors were trading in the greener territory, where BSE IT, BE Consumer Durables, BSE Realty, and BSE Teck were up by 3 per cent each.
