Stocks below Rs 100: Only buyers seen in these scrips on August 17

At 11 am on Wednesday, the headline equity indices, i.e. Sensex and Nifty 50 were trading higher on the bourses with Sensex reaching its highly anticipated mark of 60,000.

The shares in Asia Pacific markets were seen gaining as Japan’s export data for July came out better at 19 per cent, beating the analysts’ estimates. Nikkei Composite is trading higher by 1.17 per cent whereas China’s Shanghai Composite is trading flat, owing to good earnings results by food giant Meituan. Bank of New Zealand has increased its lending rate by 50 basis points to 3 per cent in order to curb inflation. 

The US equity indices gained on Tuesday as the major FMCG giants like Walmart and Home Depot reported strong Quarterly Results thereby, setting the pace for the upcoming retail earnings session week. Dow Jones index climbed 0.70 per cent while S&P 500 index gained 0.19 per cent.   

Sensex has finally surpassed the 60,000 mark and is trading at 60,198.73, up by 356.52 points or 0.60 per cent while Nifty 50 is at 17,932.50, up by 106.45 points or 0.60 per cent. Nifty Bank is up by 0.29 per cent at the 39,354.55 level.  

The FIIs are bullish on the domestic markets and bought equity worth Rs 1,376.84 crore on Tuesday (August 16) while DIIs sold equity net worth Rs 136.24 crore.    

The crude oil price has gained 1.1 per cent and is trading at $87.44 per barrel while the 10-year US Treasury yield is at 2.81 per cent.  

The Top Gainers in Nifty 50 pack are Bajaj Finserv, Bajaj Finance, NTPC, HDFC Life Insurance Company, and BPCL. Meanwhile, the Top Losers pulling down the index are Mahindra & Mahindra, Cipla, Apollo Hospitals, Kotak Mahindra Bank, and SBI Life Insurance Company.  

BSE Smallcap index is trading at 28,380.37, up by 0.66 per cent. The top gainers in the pack were Forbes & Company, Kamdhenu, S Chand & Company, NAVA, and Aarti Drugs. Each of these stocks gained more than 12 per cent. Similarly, the top losers were Bajaj Hindusthan Sugar, Diamines Chemicals, BCL Industries, Future Enterprises, and Sree Rayalaseema Hi-tech Hypo.

On the sectoral front, BSE Telecom, BSE Utilities, and BSE Power are seen trading higher by a per cent each.
