At 11.30 am, the core equity indices i.e., Sensex & Nifty 50 were still trading 2 per cent lower as the markets crashed at the time of market opening on Monday amidst higher dollar appreciation and rising crude oil prices. The markets fell as the Fed Chairman said that he might hike the interest by 50 bps instead of 25 bps in order to curb the rising inflation, which sent the global markets into a downfall on Monday morning with the US 10-year treasury yield rising to 2.864 per cent.
The Asian markets fell due to weak macroeconomic data released by China while the Japanese Yen hit a 20-year low.
Crude oil price has increased and is trading at $107 per barrel as the US dollar appreciates against the rupee by 0.29 per cent.
Sensex was at 57,132.29, down by 1,206.64 points or 2.07 per cent while Nifty was at 17,158.40, down by 317.25 points or 1.82 per cent from the last trading session.
On BSE, 1,289 shares have advanced, 2,082 shares declined whereas 137 shares are unchanged.
The Top Gainers in Nifty 50 pack are NTPC, SBI Life Insurance Company, HDFC Life Insurance Company, Tata Steel, and ONGC. Meanwhile, the top five stocks pulling down the index are Infosys, Tech Mahindra, HDFC, HDFC Bank, and Apollo Hospitals.
BSE Smallcap index is trading at 29,249.52, down by 0.92 per cent. The top five gainers are Windlas Biotech (up by 13 per cent), Borosil, Reliance Industrial Infrastructure, Sunflag Iron Steel, and TCPL Packaging. Similarly, the Top Losers include KBC Global, Venus Remedies, Alok Industries, Mastek, and Indiabulls Real Estate.
Sector-wise speaking, all the sectors were trading in the red today with BSE IT & BSE Teck down by almost 5 per cent each, followed by BSE Realty, BSE finance, and BSE Telecom.
