Important changes for the special session
Price bands: All securities and futures contracts will have a maximum price band of 5% (except those already in a lower band). This means stocks can move up or down by a maximum of 5% during the session.
Daily operating range: All futures contracts will have a daily operating range of 5%.
No flexing: The usual mechanism for adjusting price bands during the day will not be applicable.
Mutual funds: Price bands of 5% will be applicable to all close-ended mutual funds.
Changeover between sites: Price bands at the start of the day at the primary site will be carried forward to the DR site. Additionally, any changes in price bands of options contracts due to market movements during the primary session will be reflected at the DR site.
Note: These changes are only applicable for the special session on March 2nd. Normal trading rules will resume from the next trading day.
Due to March 2 being a settlement holiday, purchases placed on March 1 in the equities market will be finalised on Monday, March 4. To make sure that the testing doesn't affect the usual settlement cycle, funds from F&O trades made on March 1st cannot be used during the special DR sessions.
This special session is an important step to ensure the smooth functioning of the stock exchanges even in unforeseen circumstances. Investors are advised to be aware of the changes in price bands and other trading rules for the special session.
