S&P BSE Auto Index Jumps 0.79 per cent; Bajaj Auto Top Gainer!
Ashok Leyland and Cummins India lost 0.08 per cent and 1.23 per cent while Escorts was the top loser, down by 1.63 per cent.
S&P BSE Auto Index jumped by 0.79 per cent outperforming the frontline indices after recording gains of 188.49 points, while the Sensex fell by 0.31 per cent or 164.11 points to close at 52,318.60.
June auto sales numbers showed a healthy rebound across the board for almost all auto players. Bajaj Auto climbed by 1.84 per cent and was the top BSE Auto index gainer. Subsequently, Balkrishna Industries, Tata Motors, Motherson Sumi, Bosch and Maruti Suzuki ended the session on a strong note gaining more than 1 per cent each.
Maruti Suzuki reported a 217 per cent increase in total sales for June 2021. Maruti sold 1,43,368 units in June 2021 as compared to 46,555 units in May 2021.
Hero Motocorp, MRF and TVS Motors were up by more than 0.50 per cent each. Eicher Motors and M&M closed flat, up by 0.15 per cent and 0.12 per cent respectively.
