The Indian equity benchmarks - BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty 50 inched higher amid choppy trade on Friday, tracking mixed moves across global equities. Gains in banking and metal stocks lifted the headline indices but losses in IT shares played spoilsport. The broader markets also saw mild gains. The rupee is seen depreciating against the dollar in today’s session, reaching the 79.70 level.
The shares of Bharat Forge soared 7.43 per cent on the back of strong financial results as well as a positive outlook to reach Rs 790.60 per share. The shares of Gujarat Gas also surged almost 4 per cent as a high number of buyers were seen in the stock after the government diverted natural gas from industries to city gas operators in a bid to moderate CNG and piped cooking gas prices. Also, the shares of UPL and NTPC have jumped more than 2 per cent each on delivering good Quarterly Results.
