At 13:40 IST, BSE Sensex was trading lower, down around 442.64 points or 0.74 per cent at a level of 59,662.86 and Nifty-50 also was trading lower, down around 123.80 points or 0.69 per cent at 17,771.90.
The top BSE Sensex gainers were HCL Technologies Ltd, Ultratech Cement Ltd and Larsen & Toubro Ltd whereas today’s BSE Sensex losers were Tata Motors Ltd, Reliance Industries Ltd and Axis Bank Ltd.
Ahead of the January 12 quarterly earnings, attention will be on Infosys, HCL Technologies, Anand Rathi Wealth, Cyient, Den Networks, G.G. Engineering, GM Breweries, GTPL Hathway and Plastiblends India.
On Wednesday, oil prices increased 3 per cent to a one-week high as optimism about the state of the world economy and worry about the impact of sanctions on Russian crude production overshadowed a big surprise increase in US crude stockpiles. Brent futures increased by USD 2.57 or 3.2 per cent to close at USD 82.67 per barrel. The price of US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude increased by USD 2.29 or 3.1 per cent, to settle at USD 77.41.
