At 15:30 IST, Sensex closed on a positive note, up around 327.05 points or 0.54 per cent at a level of 61,167.79 and Nifty-50 also closed on a positive note, up around 92.15 points or 0.51 per cent at 18,197.45.
Top BSE Sensex gainers were Tata Steel Ltd, Tata Motors Ltd and ICICI Bank Ltd whereas the top Nifty-50 gainers were Tata Steel Ltd, Hindalco Industries Ltd and Oil & Natural Gas Corporation Ltd.
The indices traded higher in the broader markets, with the BSE Mid-Cap Index up 0.57 per cent and the BSE Small-Cap Index up 0.84 per cent, respectively. On the sectoral front, the BSE Metals Index outperformed the sector, rising 2.83 per cent, while the BSE Consumer Durables Index fell 0.55 per cent.
