Sensex touches all-time high; Laurus Labs surges more than 8 per cent, Jubilant FoodWorks rises 4 per cent

The domestic markets remained volatile during today’s trading session. In spite of that, the benchmark indices managed to close in the green for the eighth straight session. Sensex rose by 316.02 points or by 0.73 per cent to close at 43,593.67 levels while Nifty gained by 118.05 points or 0.93 per cent to settle at 12,749.15 levels.

A subdued market during noon was later pulled up by buying interests in metal and pharma stocks while broader markets witnessed buying insurers.

The IPO of Gland Pharma has been subscribed to 1.85 times as of November 11, 2020, which is the last day of bidding for all investors. The public issue has received bids for around 5.6 crore equity shares against an IPO size of over 3.02 crore equity shares.

The shares of Kotak Mahindra Bank gained almost 3.12 per cent after the bank got listed on the MSCI India Index.

On the global front, Asian indices such as Shanghai index and Hang Seng fell by 0.53 per cent and 0.28 per cent, respectively while Nikkei and KOSPI surged by 1.78 per cent and 1.35 per cent, respectively. In the European markets, FTSE 100, DAX, and CAC 40 were trading in the green, up by 0.61 per cent, 0.38 per cent, and 0.35 per cent, respectively.

On Wednesday, amid strong buying sentiments seen in the domestic markets, the Indian rupee traded lower at 74.25 per dollar. Gold prices witnessed an increase amid the rising Coronavirus cases as well as concerns over the effective distribution of potential Coronavirus vaccine.

Sensex gainers included Tata Steel that went up by 7.39 per cent, Axis Bank jumped by 4.28 per cent, Bajaj Finserv increased by 3.94 per cent, ITC gained by 3.87 per cent, Kotak Mahindra Bank rose by 3.12 per cent, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries increased by 3.01 per cent, Infosys gained by 2.90 per cent, etc.

Sensex losers consisted of IndusInd Bank that went down by 5.62 per cent, RIL fell by 4.20 per cent, Titan Company plunged by 2.33 per cent, Asian Paints declined by 0.95 per cent, HUL weakened by 0.34 per cent and HDFC Bank decreased by 0.28 per cent.

Amongst sectoral gainers on BSE, the metal index was the biggest gainer, up by 3.51 per cent whereas, the energy index was the biggest loser, down by 3.11 per cent.

In the broader markets, BSE Small-Cap index rose by 0.34 per cent while BSE Mid-Cap index was up by 0.77 per cent.
