Sensex, Nifty trade volatile; Infosys gains ahead of Q2 results, Vinati Organics jumps almost 8 per cent
On Tuesday, as the domestic markets witnessed a volatile trading session, the benchmark indices barely settled with gains. Sensex closed up by a mere 0.08 per cent or 31.71 points at 40,625.51 levels while Nifty ended flat with a positive bias, gaining by only 0.03 per cent or 3.55 points to settle at 11,934.50 levels.
During today’s trading session, buying was witnessed in IT, energy, and metal while selling was seen in auto, FMCG, and banks.
Asian indices remained mixed as Hang Seng jumped 2.20 per cent, Nikkei rose by 0.18 per cent whereas, Shanghai index closed flat. Meanwhile, KOSPI ended flat with a negative bias. European indices such as FTSE 100, DAX, and CAC 40 were trading lower by 0.38 per cent, 0.29 per cent, and 0.25 per cent, respectively.
The Indian rupee ended lower at 73.34 per dollar compared to its previous close of 73.27.
Sensex gainers consisted of HCL Technologies that jumped 3.94 per cent, Kotak Mahindra Bank gained 2.40 per cent, Infosys rose by 2.27 per cent, RIL went up by 1.95 per cent, UltraTech Cement surged 1.80 per cent, Tech Mahindra inched up by 1.22 per cent, etc.
On the other hand, Sensex losers included Titan Company that went down by 2.18 per cent, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries fell by 2.07 per cent, ICICI Bank declined by 1.91 per cent, Bajaj Finance decreased by 1.56 per cent, SBI fell by 1.51 per cent, Maruti plunged 1.48 per cent, etc.
Amongst sectoral indices on BSE, the Energy index was the biggest gainer, up by 1.54 per cent whereas, the Healthcare index was the biggest loser, down by 1.23 per cent.
