Affected by the weak global cues, Sensex on Thursday slid by 394.40 points or 1.02 per cent to close at 38220.39 levels. Nifty slipped by 96.20 points or 0.84 per cent to close at 11312.20 levels, whereas the India VIX stood at 20.62 jumping 3.31 per cent.

DAX, CAC 40 and FTSE 100 slipped by more than 1 per cent each. Similarly, the Asian markets were also seen trading weaker with Nikkei, Hang Seng and Shanghai index sliding by more than one per cent each. The equity markets across continents saw fresh weakness as investors globally debated whether the momentum that pushed the S&P 500 to a record high is sustainable or not.
