Sensex, Nifty positive, IndusInd bank zooms 6.59 per cent, HDFC, Axis Bank and M&M contribute the most to Sensex gains
On the last expiry day of the month, Sensex and Nifty saw profit booking. Sensex managed to close at 39113.47 levels, up by 39.55 points or 0.10 per cent on Thursday. Nifty closed at 11559.25 levels, up by 9.65 points or 0.08 per cent.
Realty stocks sizzled on bourses in today’s trade owing to the buzz that the stamp duty has been reduced by the Maharashtra government till December 31. Hence the Mumbai based realty stocks saw some traction. DLF was the top BSE Realty index gainer, up by 9.93 per cent followed by Prestige which was up by 8.07 per cent. The BSE Realty index jumped 6.63 per cent owing to the positive sentiment.
The global rally in equity stalled on Thursday with DAX slipping by 0.57 per cent, FTSE dropping by 0.54 per cent and CAC 40 falling by 0.80 per cent.
Nikkei was down by 0.35 per cent and Hang Seng slipped by 0.83 per cent. China’s industrial profits jumped leading to gains in the Shanghai index. Shanghai inched up by 0.61 per cent.
Sensex gainers in today’s trade were IndusInd Bank up by 6.59 per cent, Mahindra & Mahindra jumped by 3.80 per cent, SBI inched up by 2.81 per cent, HDFC gained 2.62 per cent and Axis Bank strengthened by 2.08 per cent.
The top Sensex losers were ONGC losing 1.47 per cent, Bajaj Auto dropping 1.23 per cent, RIL slipping 1.18 per cent, Kotak Mahindra Bank dropping by 1.11 per cent, UltraTech Cement weakening by 0.72 per cent, etc.
BSE Small-Cap index gained 0.35 per cent, thus outperforming Sensex yet again. Centrum Finance, D-Link, Usha Martin and Vishwaraj were the top Small-Cap gainers. BSE Mid-Cap index gained 0.01 per cent. Future Retail, Godrej Properties and Oberoi Realty were the biggest Mid-Cap gainers in Thursday’s trade.
BSE Power index was down by 0.36 per cent. BSE Bankex gained 0.79 per cent while BSE Consumer Durables index gained 0.89 per cent. BSE Auto index inched up by 0.95 per cent even as BSE Metals index was up by 0.04 per cent. BSE Healthcare index gained 0.83 per cent. BSE IT index was down by 0.27 per cent.
