Sensex, Nifty gain; Tata Steel jumps 5.16 per cent, JSW Steel soars 6.13 per cent
Sensex closed Thursday’s session in the green, up by 431.64 points or 0.98 per cent from Wednesday’s close to end the session at 44,259.74 levels while Nifty was up by 128.60 points or 1 per cent at 12,987 levels.
In today’s trading session, stocks of indices such as Metal and Basic Materials emerged as the top gainers.
In the global markets, Asian indices such as Nikkei index, Shanghai, KOSPI, and Hang Seng rose by 0.91 per cent, 0.22 per cent, 0.94 per cent, and 0.56 per cent, respectively. European indices such as DAX gained by 0.04 per cent, while FTSE 100, and CAC 40 were seen trading in negative, down by 0.51 per cent and 0.06 per cent, respectively.
The top Sensex gainers included Tata Steel that went up by 5.16 per cent, Bajaj Finance gained by 2.95 per cent, Bajaj Auto zoomed by 2.60 per cent, HDFC strengthened by 2.20 per cent while Titan Company rose by 2.18 per cent.
Top Sensex losers consisted of Maruti Suzuki that went down by 0.87 per cent, ONGC slipped 0.74 per cent, IndusInd Bank fell by 0.47 per cent, Tech Mahindra tumbled 0.45 per cent and Infosys declined by 0.23 per cent.
In the broader markets, BSE Small-Cap index and BSE Mid-Cap index increased by 0.71 per cent and 0.94 per cent, respectively.
Amongst sectoral indices, BSE Metal and Basic Materials Index were the best performing sectoral indices, gaining by 4.13 per cent and 2.18 per cent, respectively. Meanwhile, BSE Finance went up by 1.47 per cent and BSE Healthcare & BSE Bankex gained by 1.19 per cent and 1.16 per cent, respectively.
Indices such as Realty, FMCG, Power, and IT rose by 0.83 per cent, 0.85 per cent, 0.73 per cent, and 0.36 per cent, respectively.
Besides, the Oil & Gas index was the only loser today, which fell by 0.23 per cent.
