Sensex, Nifty gain; ICICI Bank jumps 6.51 per cent, State Bank of India spurts 4.46 per cent
Sensex closed Tuesday’s session up by 503.55 points or 1.27 per cent from Monday’s close to end the session at 40,261.13 levels while Nifty was up by 144.35 points or 1.24 per cent at 11,813.50 levels.
In today’s trading session, banking & finance stocks were the major gainers.
In the global markets, Asian indices such as Shanghai index, Nikkei index, KOSPI, and Hang Seng rose by 1.42 per cent, 1.39 per cent, 1.88 per cent, and 1.96 per cent, respectively. European indices such as DAX, FTSE 100, and CAC 40 were seen trading in positive, up by 1.97per cent, 1.80 per cent, and 2.03 per cent, respectively.
The top Sensex gainers included ICICI Bank that went up by 6.51 per cent, State Bank of India gained by 4.46 per cent, HDFC zoomed by 4.32 per cent, Power Grid strengthened by 4.02 per cent while Sun Pharmaceutical Industries rose by 3.39 per cent.
Top Sensex losers consisted of NTPC that went down by 3.75 per cent, Reliance Industries slipped by 1.48 per cent, Nestle India fell by 1.08 per cent, HCL Tech tumbled 1.02 per cent and Infosys declined by 0.94 per cent.
In the broader markets, BSE Small-Cap index and BSE Mid-Cap index increased by 0.35 per cent and 0.42 per cent, respectively.
Amongst sectoral indices, BSE Bankex and BSE Finance index was the best performing sectoral indices, which gained by 3.21 per cent and 2.92 per cent, respectively. Besides, BSE Metal went up by 2.07 per cent, while BSE Auto and BSE Healthcare surged 1.55 per cent and 1.22 per cent, respectively.
Indices such as realty, energy, telecom and IT were the top losers, which plunged by 2.25 per cent, 1.11 per cent, 0.50, and 0.12 per cent, respectively.
