Sensex, Nifty end positively; HAL gains 10 per cent, Adani Green locks in at upper circuit, Ashok Leyland declines
On Thursday, Sensex closed up by 0.19 per cent or by 91.84 points at 49,584.16 levels while Nifty rose by 0.21 per cent or 30.75 points to settle at 14,595.60 levels.
In the global markets, Asian indices such as Shanghai Composite index declined by 0.91 per cent while Hang Seng, Nikkei & KOSPI fell by 0.93 per cent, 0.85 per cent and 0.05 per cent, respectively. In the European indices such as FTSE 100, DAX and CAC 40 were trading in green, up by 0.58 per cent, 0.29 per cent and 0.22 per cent, respectively.
Sensex gainers included TCS that surged 2.89 per cent, IndusInd Bank rose by 2.84 per cent, Larsen & Toubro gained 1.80 per cent, ITC increased by 1.35 per cent, RIL inched higher by 1.11 per cent, HUL went up by 1.08 per cent, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries strengthened by 0.82 per cent, etc.
Sensex losers consisted of HCL Technologies that plunged 2.63 per cent, Axis Bank fell 1.71 per cent, Asian Paints declined by 1.32 per cent, UltraTech Cement slumped 1.26 per cent, Infosys went down by 1.23 per cent, Tech Mahindra weakened by 1.19 per cent, etc.
Amongst sectoral indices, the capital goods index was the biggest gainer, up by 1.67 per cent while the metal index was the biggest loser, down by 1.24 per cent. BSE Small-Cap index and BSE Mid-Cap index zoomed by 0.17 per cent and 0.29 per cent, respectively.
