Sensex, Nifty close with minimal gains; KNR Constructions gains more than 5 per cent, Majesco announces dividend

On Tuesday, the domestic markets witnessed a highly volatile session. Sensex recovered by 421.5 points from the day’s low to close at 46,263.17 levels, up by 9.71 points or by a mere 0.02 per cent. Nifty gained by 9.70 points or 0.07 per cent to settle at 13,567.85 levels.

The shares of Snowman Logistics declined as Adani Logistics continued to sell its holdings in Snowman Logistics. Adani Logistics sold another 0.75 per cent of its holding of around 12.45 lakh shares in Snowman Logistics. Adani Logistics had previously sold 6.83 per cent of equity in Snowman Logistics.

KNR Constructions gained by around 5.38 per cent after the company said that the board will meet on Friday i.e. December 18, 2020, to consider a maiden bonus issue.

On the global front, Asian indices such as Hang Seng, Nikkei, and KOSPI fell by 0.69 per cent, 0.17 per cent, and 0.19 per cent while Shanghai index closed flat. European indices such as FTSE 100, DAX, and CAC 40 were trading in the green, up by 0.05 per cent, 0.72 per cent and 0.45 per cent, respectively.

Amid Tuesday’s volatile trading session, the Indian rupee ended lower at 73.64 per dollar.

Sensex gainers included Bajaj Finance that jumped 4.69 per cent, Bajaj Finserv surged 4.15 per cent, HDFC gained 2.19 per cent, Tech Mahindra increased by 2.08 per cent, HDFC Bank rose by 1.50 per cent, UltraTech Cement went up by 1.49 per cent, Tata Steel strengthened by 1.36 per cent, HCL Technologies increased by 1.32 per cent, etc.

Sensex losers consisted of HUL & Nestle India that plunged 2.12 per cent each, ICICI Bank decreased by 1.51 per cent, Axis Bank fell by 1.46 per cent, SBI declined by 1.33 per cent, TCS went down by 1.26 per cent, ITC weakened by 1.16 per cent, etc.

Amongst sectoral indices on BSE, the Consumer Durables index was the biggest gainer, increasing by 1.17 per cent while the FMCG index was the biggest loser, declining by 1.25 per cent. BSE Small-Cap index rose by a mere 0.07 per cent while BSE Mid-Cap index was up by 0.42 per cent.
