Sensex, Nifty close flat; Ramco Systems touches fresh 52-week high
On Wednesday, the domestic benchmark indices closed flat. The markets remained volatile during today’s trading session as Sensex closed up by 94.71 points or 0.25 per cent to settle at 38,067.93 levels while Nifty closed up by just 25.15 points or 0.22 per cent to close at 11,247.55 level.
Ramco Systems hit an upper circuit of 5 per cent and touched a fresh 52-week high after an order win from a logistics major.
The global indices remained weak as FTSE declined by 0.25 per cent, CAC 40 lost 0.65 per cent and DAX fell by 0.64 per cent.
Asian indices such as Shanghai index and Nikkei closed down by 0.20 per cent and 1.50 per cent, respectively whereas, Hang Seng and KOSPI ended in the green, up by 0.79 per cent and 0.86 per cent, respectively.
Amongst sectoral indices on BSE, the Consumer Durable index was the biggest gainer, up by 1.72 per cent. Indices such as FMCG, Bankex, Healthcare and IT gained by 1.42 per cent, 0.18 per cent, 0.45 per cent and 0.24 per cent, respectively. Indices such as Telecom, Metal, and Oil & Gas were the top losers, which fell by 2.86 per cent, 1.92 per cent, and 1.90 per cent, respectively.
Sensex gainers included Tech Mahindra that went up by 2.84 per cent, Titan Company increased by 2.83 per cent, Nestle India gained by 1.92 per cent, Hindustan Unilever rose by 1.68 per cent, HDFC Bank gained by 1.57 per cent, etc.
Sensex losers consisted of Bharti Airtel, which went down by 3.34 per cent, Tata Steel fell by 2.77 per cent, IndusInd Bank fell by 1.77 per cent, M&M declined by 1.07 per cent, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries fell by 1.01 per cent, ICICI Bank decreased by 0.91 per cent, etc.
In the broader markets, BSE Small-Cap index remained flat, up by 0.04 per cent and BSE Mid-Cap index also remained flat, up by 0.05 per cent.
