Sensex hits 37,000, Nifty50 at fresh all-time high
It is going to be an eventful day for the indices as five heavy weights will report their Q1 earnings during the day. Bellwether of major sectors, Maruti Suzuki, Bharti Airtel, ITC, Dr. Reddy's and Yes Bank will fuel the market movement.
Despite being a day of July expiry, in the early hours of trade on Thursday, Sensex hit the 37,000 mark for the very first time and Nifty breached its all-time high of 11,171.55 hit on January 29, 2018 to touch a fresh high of 11,172.20 points.
The market is expected to remain considerably volatile. At around 9:55 hours, Nifty 50 was trading at 11,158.45 point, up by 26.45 points or 0.24 per cent. The index showed 31 advances, and 19 stocks declined. The top gainers of Nifty50 were Ultratech, Indiabull Housing Finance, SBI, Eicher Motor and Grasim, while the among the loser were Infratel, Asian Paint, Axis Bank, Tata Steel and HPCL.
Meanwhile, Nifty Bank at 27,147.35 points, up by 116.05 points or 0.43 per cent, while Nifty Auto was at 10,854.90 points, up by 44.95 points or 0.42 per cent on Thursday.
