Reliance to donate Rs 500 crore to PM CARES fund
In response to Prime Minister’s call to support the nation’s fight against Coronavirus pandemic, Reliance Industries (RIL) announced a donation of Rs 500 crore to PM CARES Fund. The company also contributed Rs 5 crore each to the governments of Maharashtra and Gujarat for helping them in their efforts to combat COVID-19.
In addition, RIL has deployed the collective strengths of Reliance organisation in its plan to combat the deadly virus by taking a range of efforts, which include readying India’s first 100-bed exclusive COVID-19 hospital, which was geared up in just two weeks to handle COVID-19 patients. The company has also including the arrangement of 50 lakh free meals in the next 10 days across the nation and made available 1 lakh masks and thousands of personal protective equipment (PPE) for health workers as well as caregivers.
Speaking on the announcement, Mukesh Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries Limited, said that the entire Reliance Industries team is with the nation at this hour of crisis and will do everything possible to win this battle against COVID-19.
RIL is India’s largest private sector company, with a consolidated turnover of Rs 6,22,809 crore, a cash profit of Rs 64,478 crore and a net profit of Rs 39,588 crore for the year ended March 31, 2019. RIL’s activities include hydrocarbon exploration and production, petroleum refining & marketing, petrochemicals, retail and digital services.
