Reliance Jio: Phased launch of fibre-based broadband from November
Mukesh Ambani's Reliance Jio Infocomm, a subsidiary of Reliance Industries Limited, may opt for a phased launch of fibre-based broadband from early November for homes in major 15-20 cities that have a high demand for internet data as announced on Friday, July 6.
The plan may range between Rs. 500-700 per month, offering 100 GB data at 100 Mbps and extra services such as internet TV and video calling. The company is also planning to offer the service free of cost for the first 3-6 months to attract broadband customers of other operators.
Mukesh Ambani has also recently informed that the high-speed home broadband services that falls under the GigaFibre brand banner is to be run across 1,100 cities but no time frame or price is mentioned by him.
The new broadband data plan by Jio is most likely to give a tough competition to Bharti Airtel's existing plan of 50 GB data at 40 Mbps in Bangalore for Rs. 799 per month, in Delhi Rs. 499 at 8 Mbps.
Meanwhile, the share price of Reliance Industries has reached an intraday high of Rs. 992.50 and intraday low of Rs. 985 per share on the BSE. At 12:27 hours, the stock of Reliance Industries was quoting Rs. 989.00 per share, up by 1.28 per cent, and BSE Sensex was trading at 35,907.30, up by 0.70 per cent. The share's 52-week high was Rs. 1,035 and 52-week low was Rs. 719 per share.
