PTC India has inked a pact with Bhutan-based Druk Green Power Corporation for purchasing surplus power from the 720 MW Mangdechhu hydro-power plant for the next 35 years. Post commission and start of power supply from Mangdechhu, the company will be around 2,130 MW of hydro capacity from Bhutan.

From Indian side, PTC has been designated by the government as the nodal agency to procure power from Bhutan. Built on the Mangdechhu river in Trongsa Dzongkhag district of central Bhutan, the Mangdechhu plant is a 720 MW run-of-river power project. This project is backed by grants and debt from India.

It is estimated that the project will generate 2,923 GWh (2.923 billion units) of electricity and counterbalance 2.2 Mt of CO2 a year. This energy will be transmitted to India through Jigmeling and Salakati sub-station.

PTC India is engaged in the business of trading activities that includes long term trading of power generated from large power projects as well as short term trading in India.

On Tuesday, the stock of PTC India opened at Rs. 58.10 and made an intraday high of 59.20 on the BSE. At 13:17, the stock was trading nearly at Rs. 58.70 on the BSE.
