The Indian benchmark indices ended higher as Nifty closed above 17,200 level with buying seen across the sectors. Sensex was up by 1,276.66 points or 2.25 per cent at 58,065.47 while Nifty climbed 387 points or 2.29 per cent at 17,274.30 level.  

The domestic markets commenced the week on a negative note and fell over a per cent, owing to weak global cues. Sensex was down by 638.11 points or 1.11 per cent at 56,788.81 while Nifty plunged 207 points or 1.21 per cent at 16,887.30.  

The weakening global economic environment has spiked up the bond yields and dollar index, which fostered fears of recession. Fading the morning losses, the benchmark indices ended marginally lower with Nifty 50 closing 0.24 per cent down and Sensex ending lower by 0.33 per cent.  

Amid a situation wherein, the investors were cautious and the markets remained choppy, the benchmark indices ended on a negative note with Nifty slipping below the 16,900 level on Wednesday. 

On Tuesday, the benchmark indices settled on a flat note in the highly volatile market. 

BSE, India's leading and most diverse exchange has received final approval from the capital markets regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) for introducing the Electronic Gold Receipt (EGR) segment on its platform. BSE received in-principle approval from SEBI in February 2022, after which the exchange conducted several mock trading in the test environment for exchange members to facilitate trading in EGRs. EGRs will cater to all market participants, which means that buyers and sellers on the exchange shall include individual investors, as well as commercial participants along the value chain like importers, banks, refiners, bullion traders, jewellery manufacturers, and retailers.

On Monday, the domestic indices ended lower for the fourth trading session amid selling seen across sectors other than IT. 

On Friday, the benchmark indices made a gap-down opening and settled in red for the third consecutive session. The weak global cues and FIIs being heavy sellers affected the market mood on the last day of the week. Sensex settled 1,020.80 points or 1.73 per cent lower at 58,098.92 while Nifty plunged 302.50 points or 1.72 per cent to be at 17,327.30.  

The domestic markets were affected by US Federal Reserve's hawkish stance on interest rates which infused pessimism amongst the investors. The banking stocks faced the brunt which continued the correction in local benchmark indices. 

The domestic benchmark indices traded with substantial volatility ahead of Fed Policy announcement. Sensex ended 262.96 points or 0.44 per cent lower at 59,456.78 level while Nifty settled 98 points or 0.55 per cent down at 17,718.30 level.
