Of all the gainers, Bhansali Engineering Polymers Ltd topped the list by climbing 4.92 per cent in the pre-opening session today. 

The stock has witnessed a descending channel of a seven-month breakout on the daily chart.

On the international front, U.S. Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell hinted at a rate hike of 50 basis points. 

BSE Smallcap index underperformed broader markets, recoding gains of mere 0.15 per cent ending at 27,852.84.
