Indices traded higher throughout the day while Nifty closed above the level of 16,650. It is up by 1.89 per cent while Sensex closed higher by 1,040 points at the end

It was a merry Monday after all on the bourses as the core equity indices i.e., Sensex and Nifty 50 rose generously and were trading more than 2 per cent higher in the morning session!

On Monday, the markets are trading bullish after breaking several major resistance levels. The advance-decline ratio is clearly favouring the advances even as the broader markets continue to perform in line with the key benchmark indices.

The Indian benchmark indices have started the day on a positive note. On the back of good global cues, Indian markets opened today on a high note.

Equity markets have come a long way since Narendra Modi got elected as the Prime Minister of India. The expectation was set high by the market participants as the leadership change promised unprecedented reforms that can put India on a high growth trajectory. Since Narendra Modi was elected as PM in May 2014, BSE Sensex has gained by more than 124 per cent.

The markets kicked off the week on a positive note. In the pre-opening session today, S&P BSE Sensex was up by more than 1 per cent to the level of 55,524.14.

Highest put option open interest contract was added at a strike price of 16300 for expiry on June 2.

At the closing bell on May 27, the Sensex ended with a gain of 1.2 per cent or 632.13 points at 54,884.66, while the Nifty50 also gained 1.1 per cent or 182 points at 16,352.45
