On Thursday, the frontline indices ended with minor losses due to negative global cues. Oil and gas, pharmaceutical, and healthcare stocks were in high demand.

A long-awaited report on US inflation turned out to be even worse than expected, fuelling speculation that Federal Reserve will tighten interest rates even further.  

The domestic equity benchmarks, BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty50 continued their losses in a consecutive fourth as the financial and IT pockets erased the gains in the second half of the session. 

At the closing bell on July 14, the Sensex closed at 53,416.15 down by 0.2 per cent or 98 points, while the Nifty index closed at 15,938.65, down 0.2 per cent or 28 points. S&P BSE Healthcare closed stronger at 22,545.44 up by 0.8 per cent or 168 points.

BSE Smallcap index also ended in the red territory at 25,645.68, down by 0.56 per cent.

Indices traded flat amid volatility. Nifty closed 0.18 per cent lower while Sensex lost about 100 points.

At 12.30 pm on Thursday, the headline equity indices, i.e. Sensex and Nifty 50 were trading flat, as Mainland China markets rose in Asia-Pacific on Thursday after Australia’s unemployment rate fell and Singapore tightened its monetary policy.  

The share price performance has been accompanied by a robust financial performance.
