Some of the low priced stocks were in action mode and gained by a huge margin on Monday. 

On Monday the BSE SmallCap Index closed in the red with the advance decline ratio being in the favour of the declines. While the broader markets underperformed, several penny stocks were seen outperforming the markets and gaining with a spurt in volume. 

Nippon Life India Asset Management, the asset manager of Nippon India Mutual Fund, successfully completed the NFO of Nippon India Flexi-Cap Fund.  

Despite underperformance by the broader indices, stock-specific action was witnessed in the markets. Hence, it’s important for traders and investors to keep a close watch on stocks that exhibit strong strength.   

The BSE SmallCap index managed to close in the red on Monday, continuing its underperformance from past week.  

In Monday's trading session, the domestic benchmark indices ended on a flat note with Sensex gaining 0.26 per cent whereas Nifty rising 0.21 per cent. The metal sector was in the limelight while the telecom sector faced selling pressure.  

The metal stocks have been shining recently, driven by a broad-based buying on strong demand and revival in consumption hopes. The major quarterly earnings have given a further boost to the metal index. Meanwhile, BSE Metal Index gained 2.34 per cent today.

Tata Steel share price gained by 3.67 per cent on Monday. 

Tata Elxsi is trading with a PE multiple of 66 and its ROE is ~30.  At current price the dividend yield for the stock is 0.54 per cent.
