Overnight Digest: Stocks to keep an eye on March 21

Benchmark indices celebrated Holi with a gain on 2 per cent on March 17 despite rise of interest rates by Fed.

Optimistic global cues after the Fed rate hike, lowering of oil prices and progress in Russia- Ukraine talks pushed the confidence of the bulls in the equity markets and benchmark indices closed 2 per cent up on Thursday.

At close, the Sensex was up 1,047.28 points or 1.84 per cent at 57,863.93 level, and the Nifty was up 311.70 points or 1.84 per cent at 17,287 level. About 2046 shares have advanced, 1270 shares declined, and 121 shares are unchanged.

All the sectoral indices ended on a positive note with auto index rising 2 per cent and realty index adding 3 per cent on an intrday basis. In the broader markets, BSE midcap and smallcap indices gained over a per cent each.

Keep a watch on these stocks for Monday's trading sessions:

Voltas - The company's share gained 4 per cent in Thursday's trading session after the company approved a proposal to enter into a joint venture (JV) arrangement with Highly International (Hong Kong) Limited. Highly International is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Shanghai Highly (Group) Company to engage in the business of design, development, manufacture, marketing, sale and service of inverter compressors for room air conditioners, motors for inverter compressors, and their associated parts. The stock traded near its record high of Rs 1,356.90 hit on October 19, 2021. 

Bharat Dynamics - The shares of this state-owned defence company hit a new high at Rs 597 on rallying 8 per cent on the BSE in Thursday’s intra-day trade on the back of heavy volumes. The stock of this company traded higher for the eighth straight day and has soared 34 per cent during this period. The stock has broken its current resistance level in the previous trading session. RSI is also trading significantly in positive territory whereas the MACD indicator is also giving bullish signals. 

Happiest Minds Technologies - The company announced a strategic partnership with OutSystems, a pioneer and leader in the low-code application development market. Happiest Minds and OutSystems share the vision to transform how enterprise software is delivered to their customers. This partnership will add a world-class, low-code platform to Happiest Minds' portfolio, enabling companies to develop, deploy, and manage omnichannel enterprise applications that run in the cloud, on-premise, or hybrid environments. The company's share has closed at Rs xxx , up/down xxx per cent on BSE.

Trent - This Tata Group owned company's shares hit an all-time high of Rs 1,262.80, on zooming 8 per cent in Thursday’s trading session on expectations of strong earnings backed by a robust recovery in revenue. The stock surpassed its previous high of Rs 1,211.95 touched on January 19, 2022. In the last one month, the stock has outperformed the market by soaring 19 per cent as against a 0.20 per cent rise in BSE Sensex. 

52-week high stocks - From the BSE 100 pack, the stocks of Titan and Cholamandalam Investment and Finance Company made fresh 52-week high prices in Thursday's trading session. Titan has surged 4.43 per cent whereas the stock of Cholamandalam Investment and Finance Company has gained 3.27 per cent on an intraday basis.
