The Indian headline indices struggled early in the morning but were later boosted by notable gains in metal and capital goods sectors. BSE Metals performed exceptionally well, gaining 2.44 per cent led by Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL). The BSE Sensex gained 0.64 per cent to 61,045 level at the close. The Nifty 50 index climbed 0.62 per cent to a level of 18,165.

Sundram Fasteners - The company announced today that it had won the biggest electric vehicle contract in its 60-year history. A leading global automobile manufacturer has awarded the Chennai-based company a $250 million contract for the supply of subassemblies for its electric vehicle (EV) platform. The company intends to invest Rs 200 crore to support the new orders under the six-year purchase package, which includes the delivery of shaft and drive gear sub-assemblies. Shares ended the session 3 per cent higher.
Adani Transmission - The company disclosed that, in accordance with the share purchase agreement entered with REC Power Development and Consultancy Ltd, it acquired the entire stake of equity shares representing 100 per cent of the total issued, paid-up and subscribed equity share capital of WRSR Power Transmission Ltd.
Cipla Ltd - Cippoint, a point-of-care testing device, was launched today by the pharmaceutical major. This cutting-edge equipment can test for cardiac markers, diabetes, infectious disorders, fertility, thyroid function, inflammation, metabolic markers and coagulation markers, among other things.
