The NSE Nifty 50 index closed at the 17,400 level, slipping 0.42 per cent, while the S&P BSE Sensex lost 175 points. The Nifty Midcap and Nifty Smallcap also experienced a decline of 0.69 per cent and 1.12 per cent, respectively.
