Overnight Digest: Stocks to keep an eye on August 5

Watch out for these stocks on Friday

On Thursday, the equity markets ended marginally down as investors booked profit post six consecutive positive trading sessions and ahead of the RBI monetary policy outcome on Friday.

At the close, the Sensex was down 51.73 points or 0.09 per cent at 58,298.80, and the Nifty was down 6.20 points or 0.04 per cent at the 17,382 level. Cipla, Sun Pharma, Nestle India, Infosys, and Apollo Hospitals were among the major gainers on the Nifty while the losers were NTPC, Tata Consumer Products, Coal India, SBI, and Reliance Industries.

Metals, IT, and healthcare sectors were in focus with the respective sectoral indices gaining between 1 per cent and 2 per cent. On the flip side, the broader market indices, BSE midcap index and smallcap index ended marginally higher. 

Watch out for these stocks on Friday: 

Deepak Fertilisers and Petrochemicals - The shares of Deepak Fertilisers have registered a new lifetime high at Rs 838.95, gaining 5 per cent on an intraday basis. The stock has jumped nearly 29 per cent in the past seven trading sessions post reporting by the company a solid set of Q1FY23 results. Since the past three trading sessions, the stock is also trading with a decent spurt in volumes. In 2022 so far, the stock has been shining, delivering returns of around 125 per cent beating the benchmark index. 

Balrampur Chini Mills - The shares of Balrampur Chini Mills rose more than 5 per cent in Thursday's trading session. The company reported a consolidated net profit which contracted 83.3 per cent at Rs 13 crore against Rs 77 crore on a YoY basis. Consolidated revenue slipped 5.3 per cent at Rs 1,080 crore against Rs 1,140.4 crore on a YoY basis. Consolidated EBITDA lowered 66.9 per cent at Rs 44.4 crore as compared to Rs 134 crore on a YoY basis whereas the EBITDA margin stood at 4.1 per cent against 11.7 per cent on a YoY basis.

L&T Infotech - Larsen and Toubro Infotech has partnered with Saviynt, a leading provider of enterprise cloud identity solutions. The partnership combines Saviynt Enterprise Identity Cloud with LTI’s Active XDR (eXtended Detection & Response) capabilities to provide organizations with improved identity management and security threat protection during digital transformation. The shares of L&T traded in green throughout the trading session and ended 2.37 per cent higher. 

New Delhi Television (NDTV) - The shares of NDTV soared 9 per cent on Thursday, hitting a new 13-year high of Rs 312.65. This rally comes ahead of the Q1FY23 results announcements. The stock has zoomed 20 per cent in the past two trading sessions. In the past month, the market price of NDTV has jumped 85 per cent, outperforming the 9.8 per cent rise in the BSE Sensex. Keep an eye on this share for upcoming trading sessions.
