Overnight Digest: Stocks to keep an eye on August 19

Keep a watch on these stocks for Friday's trading session.

Post recording a fall of 300 points during Thursday's trading session, the Sensex recouped all of its losses to end at the 60,298 level, being up by 38 points or 0.06 per cent, whereas the Nifty 50 recovered from a low of 17,852 to end at 17,965, up 21 points or 0.12 per cent. 

The shares of Kotak Bank, L&T, Bharti Airtel, SBI, HDFC Bank, HDFC, and ITC led the recovery whereas Infosys, TCS, Axis Bank, ICICI Bank, and Wipro weighed the indices lower.

Tata Power - The company announced that its subsidiary, Tata Power Renewable Energy has approved the allotment of 8.36 crore equity shares of itself to GreenForest New Energies Bidco, a company incorporated under the laws of England and Wales, on a preferential basis. This completes Tranche 1 of the transaction. The subsidiary received nearly Rs 2,000 crore for Rs 239.22 per share by allotting shares to GreenForest. The shares of Tata Power ended flat on Thursday. 

Hindustan Aeronautics - The shares of HAL gained over 2 per cent after the company declared the signing of an agreement to set up an office in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The office in Malaysia will assist HAL in grabbing new business opportunities for the Fighter Lead-in Trainer (FLIT) LCA and other requirements of the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF), including Su-30 MKM and Hawk upgrades. On the day when Sensex closed flat, the shares of HAL settled higher by more than 1 per cent. 

Bharti Airtel - The shares of Bharti Airtel touched over a three-month high price of Rs 735.30, surging 2 per cent in Thursday’s trading session. The shares of this telecom company have gained 4.5 per cent in the past two trading sessions. This move came as a result of the announcement that the company has paid Rs 8,312.4 crore to the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), to settle 5G spectrum dues before the destined schedule to free up cash for future investments. The stock is likely to be on the investors' radar for Friday's trading session.

Price Volume Breakout Stocks - In a subdued market today, the shares of IRCTC, RHI Magnesita India, Dalmia Bharat, Thermax, and Kotak Mahindra Bank were some of the shares showing a price volume breakout with gains up to 6.33 per cent. Keep these stocks on your radar for the upcoming trading session.
