Overnight Digest: Stocks likely to be in focus on February 4
Hero MotoCorp, Bajaj Auto, Divis Labs, Maruti Suzuki and ITC were the top Nifty losers, while gainers included HDFC, NTPC, SBI Life Insurance, Grasim Industries and Infosys.
On Thursday, the domestic benchmark indices traded in red following broad-based selling as global cues turned towards the bears. All major sectors were affected by the selling while auto stocks showed some cheer on the back of sequential growth in auto sales numbers during January 2022.
At close, the Sensex was down 770.31 points or 1.29 per cent at 58,788.02, and the Nifty was down 219.80 points or 1.24 per cent at 17,560.20. About 1663 shares have advanced, 1602 shares declined, and 81 shares are unchanged.

Bharat Dynamics - The shares of the company hit a new high of Rs 535.70, gaining 10 per cent on BSE at the start of Thursday’s trading session after the company signed a contract worth Rs 3,131.82 crore with the Indian Army. The contract is for the manufacture and supply of Konkurs - M AntiTank Guided Missiles to the Indian Army and will be executed in three years. The stock traded flat throughout the trading session and ended lower on BSE.
Welspun India - The stock has declined 3.4 per cent in Thursday's trading session. The company's net profit was down 26.8 per cent at Rs 132.4 crore against Rs 180.8 crore on a YoY basis. Revenue was up 19.2 per cent at Rs 2,418.2 crore in Q3FY22 against Rs 2,029 crore reported in Q3FY21. EBITDA fell 21.9 per cent at Rs 310.7 crore against Rs 398 crore in Q3 of FY21. Compared on a YoY basis, EBITDA margin stands at 12.9 per cent against 19.6 per cent. The stock was trading flattish for the first half of the trading session but dipped up to 4 per cent post announcement of results. Keep a watch on this stock for Friday's trading session.
Emami India - The Board of Directors of Emami approved the buyback of the company's fully paid-up equity shares having a face value of Re 1 each for an aggregate amount not exceeding Rs 162 crore. The stock closed 1.98 per cent lower in Thursday's trading session and is likely to be in focus on Friday.
TV18 Broadcast - Shares of TV18 Broadcast surged over 8 per cent on February 3 on talks that US telecom conglomerate Comcast may join media titans James Murdoch and Uday Shankar in acquiring a stake in Viacom 18. Keep an eye on this stock for further trading sessions.
