Opening Bell: Headline indices plummet in the early morning deals following global cues

Along with Asian stocks, Indian indices tripped on Friday as investors watch Russia's invasion of Ukraine getting worse. As the Russian forces attack on Europe's largest nuclear power plant, the facility is currently secure, a state of emergency was declared by Ukraine. The Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) outflow/sales was seen worth Rs 6644.65 crore; while domestic institutional investors (DIIs) inflow/purchase was seen of Rs 4799.24 crore in the Indian equity market on March 3.
The BSE Sensex once again opened on a negative note dropping by 903 points or 1.64 per cent down at 54,199.04. The BSE MidCap has slipped 287 points and is trading at 22,878.42, BSE SmallCap has also plummeted by 202 points and is trading at 26,521.54 levels. The stocks trading in the green on the BSE Sensex are Tata Steel and NTPC. The Nifty 50 index saw a huge gap down opening lower by 237 points and is now trading at 16,260.20 levels. Bank Nifty plunged by 534 points and is trading at 34,409.75 levels. The gainers on Nifty 50 are UPL, Hindalco Industries, NTPC, Tata Steel, and BPCL.
Out of 2741 stocks traded, the numbers of stocks advanced are 1034 and 1603 stocks that have declined in the morning session. 165 stocks are locked up in upper circuit and 101 stocks are locked in the lower circuit today. There are 52 stocks that are trading at a 52-week high and there are 49 stocks that are trading at a 52-week low.
