Nifty journey from 16k to 17k: Bajaj Finserv the top contributor while JSW steel drags the most

The Nifty jumped from 16k to 17k in just around 20 odd trading sessions. The impressive bull run was supported by financials this time with healthy contribution from Bajaj Twins and HDFC Twins.

If we consider the top contributors adjusted for the market capitalisation, we find that RIL is the top contributor to the Nifty gains by adding 148 points followed by HDFC Bank adding 147 points and HDFC adding 122 points while TCS adding 115 points to the Nifty’s journey from 16k to 17k.

Bajaj Finserv is the top Nifty gainer, jumping higher by more than 19 per cent, during this period between August 3 to August 31 where the Nifty jumped from 16k to 17k. Bajaj Finance gained by more than 18 per cent during the similar period.

JSW Steel disappointed the most by slipping 7.12 per cent when Nifty climbed from 16k to 17k in just 20 odd trading sessions. UPL was down by 6.18, Grasim Industries dropped by 5.72 per cent, Tata Motors slid by 12.33 per cent, Maruti Suzuki tumbled by 11.82 per cent and SBI weakened by 11.51 per cent.
