NHPC signs MoU with Government of Himachal Pradesh

NHPC Limited has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Government of Himachal Pradesh for execution of 449 MW Dugar HE Project located in Chamba District, Himachal Pradesh.

The project is a run of the river scheme on Chenab River. The estimated present day cost of the project is Rs. 4,112 crores and will generate 1610 MUs in a 90 per cent dependable year with 95 per cent machine availability.

Earlier last month, the company had signed an agreement with Government of Assam on August 23, 2019 for the execution of Subansiri Lower HE Project (2000 MW) on river Subansiri in the states of Arunachal Pradesh and Assam.

The company’s Board of Directors have considered the proposal for raising of debt up to Rs, 2500 crore during FY20 through issuance of corporate bonds in one or more series/tranches on private placement basis and/or raising of term loans/inter-corporate loan/External Commercial Borrowings (ECB) in suitable tranches.

NHPC Limited is a state-owned hydropower generation company, incorporated in the year 1975 with an objective to plan, promote and organise an integrated and efficient development of hydroelectric power in all aspects.

On Thursday, the stock of NHPC opened flat at Rs. 22.75 in BSE. In the morning trading session, it surged by 2.2 per cent to Rs. 23.25 against its previous close.
