NDA leads in trends, Sensex up by 589 points
Of the 542 seats in fray, BJP-led alliance NDA is leading in 284 seats, while Congress-led alliance UPA is leading in 94 seats, and in another 92 seats Others are leading.
BJP has already emerged as the leader with 235 seats, while Congress is ahead in 59 seats, according to news reports. The highlights of the trends include Smriti Irani leading ahead of Congress President Rahul Gandhi, but is leading in Wayanad. The outspoken Shashi Tharoor is trailing in Thiruvananthapuram.
According to the Election Commission website, Trends are known for 471 out of 542 constituencies and party leading are as per the table below.

Cheering these results, the benchmark indices were rallying in the morning session. At 9:38 hours, the BSE Sensex was at 39,699.53, up by 589.32 points or 1.51 per cent, while Nifty was at 11,914.00, up by 176.10 points or 1.50 per cent. Nifty Bank was at 31,182.40, up by 655.60 poonts or 2.15 per cent.
The movers of Sensex included heavyweights Reliance contributing 72 points, L&T 61.63, while HDFC, IndusInd Bank, ICICI Bank and SBI contributing more than 50 points each.
