The asset under management (AUM) of the domestic mutual fund industry has increased by 3.4 per cent on monthly basis to Rs 31.02 lakh crore for the month of December 2020. The increase in AUM was primarily driven by an increase in asset under management of equity-oriented schemes. It has increased by little more than 5.7 per cent on the month on month basis. This is despite equity dedicated mutual fund witnessing Rs 10,147 crore of outflows in the month of December 2020. This is the sixth continuous month of outflows in the equity-oriented fund. All the sub-categories saw net outflow in the month of December 2020 except for Sectoral/Thematic funds, which saw an inflow of Rs 3412 crore. At the end of December 2020, total AUM of equity-oriented funds was at Rs 9.06 lakh crore compared to Rs 8.57 lakh crore at the end of November 2020. The increase in the AUM was primarily led by the increase in mark to market gain by the equity dedicated fund. In the month of December 2020, frontline equity indices increased by 6.7 per cent.
