MF Update: 23 per cent of assets are held by B30 location individuals
. The latest data from AMFI shows that investment from B30 location is increasing especially in equity-oriented funds. At the end of December 2018, the assets from B30 increased by 2 per cent on a month on month basis and were Rs. 3,62,842 crore. The market regulator, SEBI has defined T30 as the top 30 geographical locations in India and B30 refers to the locations beyond the top 30.
Most of the investments from B30 location go towards equity. At the end of December 2018, 64 per cent of total investment originated from B30 cities went to equity-dedicated funds. For the T30, it is 38 per cent while the debt forms 62 per cent of total assets. The higher concentration in debt in T30 locations is due to the presence of institutions in this segment.
It is the individual investors that form a major part of the investment from B30 cities. At the end of December 2018, 23 per cent of assets held by individual investors are from the B30 locations. It has increased from around 22 per cent in the month of October 2018.
